Puyol and Messi, among the best players in Champions League
Puyol and Messi are the two Barça players in the list UEFA has just published of the best players in the last edition of the Champions League.
Both are competing in different categories. Captain Carles Puyol has been named as one of the best defenders in the competition and the Argentinian is one of the best forwards.
Five players per position
Twenty players have been nominated, five for each of the four main positions. Puyol is competing in the defence category with Carragher (Liverpool), Ferdinand (Manchester United), Terry (Chelsea) and Vidic (Manchester United).
Leo Messi, meanwhile, will compete for best forward along with Drogba (Chelsea), Ronaldo (Manchester United), Rooney (Manchester United) and Fernando Torres (Liverpool).
