Cameroon, Mali and Uruguay all fail to win

The national sides of Eto’o, Keita and Martín Cáceres all failed to win their group stage classifiers for the 2010 World Cup.
As well as the European Cup, this month various group stage classifiers for the 2010 World Cup in South Africa are being played. With a Barça presence in the three teams, Cameroon, Mali and Uruguay played against Tanzania, Sudan and Venezuela respectively, but they all failed to win.

Good draw for Cameroon

Cameroon stay group leader, thanks to their 0-0 draw with Tanzania. Samuel Eto’o played the full 90 minutes, and despite not scoring, played a key role in attack.

Mali lose

Mali, with Barça player Seydou Keita in their ranks, unexpectedly lost 3-2 to Sudan. However, they too remain group leader with six points.

Uruguay draw at home

New Barça signing Martín Cáceres played in Uruguay’s draw at home to Venezuela. The home side let two valuable points slip from their hands, and now have it difficult to qualify lying sixth in their group.
